RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanising) silicone sealant cures at ambient temperature to form a flexible, permanently bonded gasket material. Bostik’s version is rated to 300°C, which puts it in the right range for engine bay applications: valve cover gaskets, thermostat housings, water pump covers, timing chain covers and similar components that see elevated temperatures but not exhaust-level heat.
The black formula is standard for most automotive gasket applications. It adheres well to metal, rubber and other common automotive materials, and the flexibility of the cured silicone means it handles vibration and thermal expansion without cracking. Fast-curing, which means less waiting before assembly.
The 90ml tube is the right size for a specific gasket job rather than a full workshop supply. Keep one in the workshop for the jobs that need it.
